What 3D drafting means for your project
In 3D drafting the model is the source of truth. Instead of drawing a plan, then an elevation, then a section and hoping they match, we model the building, part or assembly once and cut every view from it. When a dimension changes, the plan, section, schedule and quantity all change with it.
We use the right tool for the job: Revit for buildings, SolidWorks and Inventor for machines and products, AutoCAD 3D and SketchUp for quick massing or layouts, and Civil 3D for terrain. The model detail is agreed up front – for buildings we describe it as a Level of Development (LOD 200–400), for products as the level of features and tolerances needed for manufacturing.
3D drafting is also the starting point for renderings, quantity take-offs and clash checks, so the same model can feed our 3D rendering and BIM modeling teams later.
Deliverables you receive
- Native 3D model (RVT, SLDPRT/SLDASM, IPT/IAM, DWG 3D or SKP)
- 2D sheets generated from the model: plans, elevations, sections, details
- Exploded views and isometric views where useful
- Schedules and bills of materials driven by the model
- Neutral exports: IFC, STEP, IGES, STL or FBX
- PDF set for review and markups

What we need from you
- 2D drawings, sketches, PDFs or reference photos
- Target software and version
- Required level of detail (LOD or manufacturing detail)
- Any family, part or material libraries you use
Who orders this service
- Architects moving projects from 2D to Revit
- Product designers and manufacturers
- Contractors who want to visualise and quantify work
- Engineers preparing coordination models
Software and file formats
Revit (RVT, RFA), SolidWorks (SLDPRT, SLDASM, SLDDRW), Autodesk Inventor (IPT, IAM, IDW), AutoCAD (DWG), SketchUp (SKP), plus IFC 2x3/IFC4, STEP AP214, IGES, STL, OBJ and FBX for exchange.
3D Drafting Services standards in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia
We set up every project on the standard of the country where it will be built or manufactured. These are the references we work to most often:
| Country | Standards and codes we draft 3D drafting services to |
|---|---|
| USA | BIMForum LOD Specification for building models; ASME Y14.41 for 3D product definition; ASME Y14.5 GD&T on drawings |
| UK | BS EN ISO 19650 information requirements; BS 8888 for product drawings; Uniclass 2015 classification |
| Canada | CanBIM protocols and LOD guidance; CSA B78.2 / ISO drawing conventions for manufactured parts |
| Australia | NATSPEC National BIM Guide; AS 1100.201 mechanical drawing; AS/NZS ISO 19650 |
How our 3D drafting services process works
- 1Send your files
Upload sketches, PDFs, markups, photos, scans or a model through the quote form. Tell us the standard (US, UK, Canada or Australia) and the deadline.
- 2Fixed quote in hours
We review the scope and reply with a fixed price, the deliverables list and a delivery date. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- 3Drafting & modeling
Your project is drawn in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, SolidWorks or the software you use, on your title block, layers and templates.
- 4QA check
A second drafter checks dimensions, annotations, layer standards, sheet numbering and cross-references against your input before anything is sent.
- 5Delivery & revisions
You receive native files plus PDFs. Comments come back as markups and we revise them quickly until the set matches the brief.
Turnaround and pricing
A simple part or a small house model takes 1–3 business days; multi-storey buildings or complex assemblies are scheduled in weekly milestones. Every job is priced as a fixed quote after we review your files, so you know the cost and the delivery date before work starts. See how our pricing works, or send your files through the quote form for a quick estimate.
