What our mechanical design services include
Mechanical design for equipment is mostly about making many parts work together: structural frames, moving assemblies, purchased components such as bearings, motors and cylinders, guards, and the fasteners that hold everything. We model the full assembly so fit, clearances and motion can be checked before metal is cut.
We work from your concept, a marked-up photo of an existing machine, or a written specification. Purchased parts are modeled from manufacturer CAD where available, and the BOM separates fabricated, machined and bought-out items so purchasing and the workshop can work in parallel.
Strength checks are carried out to the extent you need – hand calculations or SolidWorks Simulation studies for frames and brackets – and documented for your engineer. Production drawings come through our mechanical drafting team; product-focused work fits better under 3D CAD design.
Deliverables you receive
- Full 3D assembly models with purchased components
- Weldment and sheet metal designs with cut lists and flat patterns
- Motion and interference checks
- Basic strength checks (hand calcs or FEA studies) for engineer review
- Fabrication and assembly drawings with BOM
- STEP and DXF files for suppliers

What we need from you
- Concept sketch, specification or photos of an existing machine
- Loads, speeds and duty information
- Preferred suppliers and stock materials
- Workshop capabilities (laser, brake, welding, machining)
Who orders this service
- Machine builders and OEMs
- Manufacturing plants improving lines
- Fabrication workshops
- Automation and packaging integrators
Software and file formats
SolidWorks (with Weldments, Sheet Metal and Simulation), Autodesk Inventor (Frame Generator, Sheet Metal), STEP, Parasolid, DXF for laser cutting and PDF drawings.
Mechanical Design Services standards in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia
We set up every project on the standard of the country where it will be built or manufactured. These are the references we work to most often:
| Country | Standards and codes we draft mechanical design services to |
|---|---|
| USA | ASME Y14.5 drawings, AWS D1.1 weld symbols and practice, OSHA 1910.212 machine guarding references |
| UK | BS 8888 drawings, BS EN ISO 12100 machinery risk-reduction principles, BS EN ISO 13857 safety distances |
| Canada | CSA Z432 safeguarding of machinery, CSA W59 welded steel construction |
| Australia | AS 4024 safety of machinery series, AS/NZS 1554 structural steel welding, AS 1100.201 drawings |
How our mechanical design services process works
- 1Send your files
Upload sketches, PDFs, markups, photos, scans or a model through the quote form. Tell us the standard (US, UK, Canada or Australia) and the deadline.
- 2Fixed quote in hours
We review the scope and reply with a fixed price, the deliverables list and a delivery date. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- 3Drafting & modeling
Your project is drawn in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, SolidWorks or the software you use, on your title block, layers and templates.
- 4QA check
A second drafter checks dimensions, annotations, layer standards, sheet numbering and cross-references against your input before anything is sent.
- 5Delivery & revisions
You receive native files plus PDFs. Comments come back as markups and we revise them quickly until the set matches the brief.
Turnaround and pricing
Small fixtures and guards take 2–5 business days; complete machines are planned in milestones with design reviews. Every job is priced as a fixed quote after we review your files, so you know the cost and the delivery date before work starts. See how our pricing works, or send your files through the quote form for a quick estimate.
