What our mechanical drafting covers
A mechanical drawing is a contract with the shop floor. If a tolerance is missing or a datum is unclear, the part may be made correctly to the drawing and still not fit. Our drafters dimension from functional datums, apply tolerances where they matter and leave the rest to a clear general tolerance block.
We draft from your 3D models, from legacy 2D drawings, from a sample part with measurements, or from engineering sketches. Sheet metal parts get flat patterns with bend tables; weldments get cut lists and weld symbols; assemblies get exploded views, balloons and a bill of materials linked to the model.
If you only have a physical part, our 3D scan to CAD service creates the model first. For design work rather than drafting, see mechanical design services.

- Assembly drawings with exploded views, balloons and BOM
- Sheet metal flat patterns with bend tables
- Weldment drawings with cut lists and weld symbols
- Machining, surface finish and heat treatment notes
- Native CAD files plus PDF, DXF (for laser/plasma) and STEP

What we need from you
- 3D models, legacy drawings, sketches or a measured sample
- Material, finish and quantity information
- Critical fits and functional surfaces
- Your drawing template and tolerance block
Who orders this service
- OEMs and machine builders
- Job shops and fabricators
- Product development teams
- Maintenance teams documenting spare parts
Software and file formats
SolidWorks (SLDPRT, SLDASM, SLDDRW), Autodesk Inventor (IPT, IAM, IDW/DWG), AutoCAD Mechanical (DWG), and exports in STEP, IGES, Parasolid, DXF and PDF. Units in inches or millimetres; first-angle or third-angle projection as your market expects.
Mechanical Drafting Services standards in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia
We set up every project on the standard of the country where it will be built or manufactured. These are the references we work to most often:
| Country | Standards and codes we draft mechanical drafting services to |
|---|---|
| USA | ASME Y14.5-2018 dimensioning and tolerancing, ASME Y14.100 drawing practices, AWS A2.4 weld symbols, third-angle projection |
| UK | BS 8888:2020 and the ISO GPS standards (ISO 1101, ISO 2768), ISO 2553 welding symbols, first-angle projection |
| Canada | CSA B78.2 (aligned with ASME/ISO), ASME Y14.5 widely used by US-supplying manufacturers |
| Australia | AS 1100.201 mechanical engineering drawing, ISO GPS tolerancing, AS 1101.3 welding symbols |
How our mechanical drafting services process works
- 1Send your files
Upload sketches, PDFs, markups, photos, scans or a model through the quote form. Tell us the standard (US, UK, Canada or Australia) and the deadline.
- 2Fixed quote in hours
We review the scope and reply with a fixed price, the deliverables list and a delivery date. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- 3Drafting & modeling
Your project is drawn in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, SolidWorks or the software you use, on your title block, layers and templates.
- 4QA check
A second drafter checks dimensions, annotations, layer standards, sheet numbering and cross-references against your input before anything is sent.
- 5Delivery & revisions
You receive native files plus PDFs. Comments come back as markups and we revise them quickly until the set matches the brief.
Turnaround and pricing
Simple part drawings are typically delivered in 1 business day per 3–5 parts; assemblies with BOMs take 2–5 business days. Every job is priced as a fixed quote after we review your files, so you know the cost and the delivery date before work starts. See how our pricing works, or send your files through the quote form for a quick estimate.
