What our solar design service includes
Solar installers live on permit turnaround. A plan set that answers the reviewer's questions the first time – fire setbacks, rapid shutdown, conductor sizing, point of interconnection, structural attachment – gets approved faster and keeps crews busy. We prepare consistent plan sets from your site survey, roof photos and equipment choices.
Each set includes the array layout on an accurate roof plan, the electrical design from modules to the point of interconnection, and the mechanical attachment details from your racking manufacturer. Battery storage, backup panels and EV integration can be included. Where a structural letter or engineer's stamp is required, the set is prepared for a licensed engineer to review and seal.
Electrical service upgrades that often accompany solar are covered in electrical permit drawings. In California, PV sizing ties in with Title 24 compliance.

Software and file formats
AutoCAD plan sets in PDF (and DWG), with layouts prepared from your survey or aerial imagery; production estimates can be added from your design tool (e.g. Aurora, OpenSolar, PVsyst).
Solar Design Services standards in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia
We set up every project on the standard of the country where it will be built or manufactured. These are the references we work to most often:
| Country | Standards and codes we draft solar design services to |
|---|---|
| USA | NEC Article 690 (PV), 705 (interconnection), 706 (storage) and 690.12 rapid shutdown; IFC/IRC fire setbacks; UL 1741/UL 9540 equipment listings; SolarAPP+ where adopted |
| UK | MCS certification standards (MIS 3002), BS 7671 Section 712, ENA G98/G99 DNO connection, BS EN 62446 documentation |
| Canada | CSA C22.1 Section 64 (renewable energy systems), utility interconnection requirements, NBC structural requirements |
| Australia | AS/NZS 5033 PV arrays, AS/NZS 4777.1 inverter installation, AS/NZS 5139 batteries, Clean Energy Council guidelines, network connection rules |
Engineering responsibility: we prepare drawings, models and calculations as a drafting and design-support team. Where the law in your state, province or council requires it, the final design must be reviewed, signed and sealed by the licensed engineer or architect of record for the project. We work to their markups and do not stamp drawings ourselves.
How our solar design services process works
- 1Send your files
Upload sketches, PDFs, markups, photos, scans or a model through the quote form. Tell us the standard (US, UK, Canada or Australia) and the deadline.
- 2Fixed quote in hours
We review the scope and reply with a fixed price, the deliverables list and a delivery date. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- 3Drafting & modeling
Your project is drawn in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, SolidWorks or the software you use, on your title block, layers and templates.
- 4QA check
A second drafter checks dimensions, annotations, layer standards, sheet numbering and cross-references against your input before anything is sent.
- 5Delivery & revisions
You receive native files plus PDFs. Comments come back as markups and we revise them quickly until the set matches the brief.
Turnaround and pricing
Residential PV plan sets are typically delivered in 1–2 business days; commercial sets in 3–7 days. Every job is priced as a fixed quote after we review your files, so you know the cost and the delivery date before work starts. See how our pricing works, or send your files through the quote form for a quick estimate.
